Open House: Celebrating Hard Art, Masao Gozu, New York Fashion at PS1, and Fred Wilson

Join us for our November Open House, a free, all-ages day of programs and activities inspired by our new exhibitions. Be among the first to experience these exciting shows and join us for family workshops, artist talks, a sound bath, a makers market, and our 50th-anniversary stoop sale. The event celebrates the opening of Hard Art , a landmark exhibition examining the legacy of abstraction by Black artists in the US from 1969 to today. Legendary artists Howardena Pindell and James Little—who all also participated in PS1’s Afro-American Abstraction (1980)—join The Agnes Gund Director Connie Butler for a lively conversation on their practices. Inspired by Masao Gozu: Windows and Bars , a family workshop invites participants of all ages to build small window-objects from remembered places. Marking New York Fashion at PS1 , cultural theorist Marco Pecorari discusses the recent history of the fashion exhibition followed by a conversation with critic Matthew Linde and Assistant Curator Kari Rittenbach. Kick off your morning with yoga, sound baths, and movement for all ages with Healspace, Long Island City’s integrated health and wellness space. Plus, check out a Makers Mart with artists from The Fortune Society, and check out deals on PS1 publications at our 50th Anniversary Stoop Sale. Celebrate with us all day long. All free programs are drop-in unless otherwise noted.
